William Ricketts

 

Ricketts is also spelled Rickeots, Rickeotts, Rickett, Rickets, Ricket, Rickel, Rickle, Rickels, and Rickles.

 

Kentucky was originally a Virginia county and included the lands west of the Appalachians. In 1780, it was divided into Fayette, Jefferson, and Lincoln counties. Kentucky officially became a state on June 1, 1792.

Garret Larew married Elizabeth Ricketts

William Ricketts was born on January 26, 1792 in Mason County, Kentucky. He was the son of Robert Ricketts and Susannah Wilson. He was a farmer.

He married Elizabeth Oxley about 1812. Elizabeth died about 1831.

His second wife was Harriet Dean. They married in February 5, 1832. His wives and children are described in detail in the section on William and Elizabeth Ricketts.

He died on April 1, 1874 in Washington, Tazewell County, Illinois. He was buried with Harriet at Old Washington Cemetery in Tazewell County, Illinois also called Old Glendale Cemetery. It is at the southern end of Market Street.

  • Illinois became a state in 1818. A large influx of American settlers came in the 1810s by the Ohio River.

    Tazewell County, Illinois was formed out of Peoria County in 1827.

    Robert Ricketts Senior had a son named William Ricketts, born January 16, 1792, died April 1, 1874. His first wife was named Elizabeth. His second wife was Harriet Dean, born June 27, 1812, died September 28, 1900. They were married on February 5, 1832, in Dearborn County, Indiana, and they are buried in Washington Cemetery. Tazewell County, Illinois.
